A year has almost gone. Seasons have come and gone, and life moves on...this sounds like a start to a really bad poem, but that is kind of where we are at right now. Ready to be together.
Just ready to do life together. Play together. Eat together. Go on walks together. Not feel the sting when around other children knowing a little girl halfway across the world is waiting, even though she may not even understand.
F-A-M-I-L-Y.
Oh, and you definitely need to know about our adoption progress...
We recently realized we have been saying A's name wrong for the past year. Oh yes, we sure have. Nice parents, eh? We received a snippet of old video of A, and heard her name being said, and our mispronunciation began to sink in. A little comical, really. I thought for a minute we may just let it slide...
until Mr. Fly started correcting me when I was saying A's name the not so right way. So that was that. See us for corrective measures if you so wish. I think we got it this time!
You heard it first (well, close to the first anyway)--- We can now say our sweet girl's name properly. Adoption progress, right? That is as good as it gets, for now.
In rookie fashion, I have started to try to intentionally enjoy life, and to allow myself to truly soak up the beauty of God's seasons, instead of run, run, run from one activity to the next. Like for starters, I bought apple cider at Trader Joe's thinking that it was just going to make Fall dance in our house. It kind of did---good stuff. I also made an apple crisp, which was not all that tasty. My advice to you? Don't use outdated Crisco. Do yourself a favor, and shell out the extra few dollars to get a new can. Thank me later. Mr. Fly said it was yummy, but he is a strange kind of nice.
Anyway, Saturday night, I got the bright idea to go take fall pictures in a local park while Mr. Fly was working. I drove to the park on the east side of town to realize that the sun actually sets in the west, and my glowing natural light that I was wanting was no where to be found. It looked more like dusk. Not about to give up, I gave it my best shot, and turned my aperture or shutter speed (whatever you call it) way down, like way down. I just wanted some light, people. It didn't really work. I left with just a few dark and dreary fall with-a-hint-of-blur pictures. I would have taken more, but it came to my realization that I only brought my mostly full SD card with me. Pro move.
I left feeling okay ...I tried. I even attempted driving quick but oh, so cautious speeds across town to see if I could find some tree with the sun's glow on it, but alas, the sun had set.
Effort is worth everything in my book..
Secretly, I blame my Herculean effort to get an awesome picture on Don Angle, and his recent blog posts of nature. Help, Don! It is clear I just new a few quick basics to at least just get me started on the right side of town. Oh, and was that aperture or shutter speed I was wanting?
Check out Don's recent work...

I imagine you all would just love me to share my artsy photos of the dusky trees I captured. If my camera card was not still in our car, I would consider sharing immediately. I guess you will just have to wait for now.
If you think of it this week, please pray with us that our approval comes very soon.
We ache for the moments when I won't need to race across the wrong side of town to take inspiring pictures. How wonderful it will be when we can take pictures of our girl, and show her how precious she is in the Lord's sight. In His time.
ha ha...you seriously crack me up, Colista. I am praying your approval comes SOON. Soon. Soon. Soon.
ReplyDeleteLove you...
Mer

I heart you too. Real can get you in trouble too. Or is that just me? ;)
DeleteBut yes, for real, we love you and Scott.
Saying a prayer that your sweet girl sleeps well tonight. She is a trooper, and is well loved.
See you next Sunday night!
sounds like something I would do...the picture thing. I always have the best of intentions. I miss you! Maybe we can enjoy a Fall day together sometime before WINTER comes rolling in with a frenzy! Love you all, dear friends and I pray that God brings you all together as a family soon and grants you peace and contentment in the meantime :) XX

DeleteThanks for making me cry on a Monday morning! I love Mondays because they are a new beginning. I cannot wait to hear the news that you are frantically moving forward in your new beginning. Good for you for making the effort to take pictures, rather than sit and mope. Praying for you this morning, and will continue! Can't wait to hear how you say her name! 8)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to share the news with you either. We are missing adoption group these past couple of weeks. :( Looking forward to hooking back up again.
DeleteHave a happy, blessed week.
waiting...so very hard...I don't even know what to tell you to do to make it easier. I can only tell you that the waiting WILL end and it will be oh, so worth it! And time will fly, fly, fly again. God is before you, behind you, beneath you. Believe!
ReplyDeleteMmm hmmm... Thankful He is before, behind, and beneath us! Love.
DeleteI am ready for some more pics of your fam. You sure have a cute lil new grand::doll::
Praying for you as you wait. Can't wait to hear the pronunciation!
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't wait to you see your bundle of adorableness! Hope you get lots of sleep tonight. :)
Deletepraying here for you!:) Knowing this wait is hard!:/ We laugh {in joking fashion -of course;)} when little a. is careening from activity to activity trashing everyhting in his path, that we were indeed anxious & impatient for THIS!:) Surely in the "waiting rooms" of life is where God does much teaching?!?:) Our love to you!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I can only imagine. :) I think he has had some "teaching" for me in the waiting department the last few years.
DeleteI hope that little A is still adjusting okay...
It would be fun to bump into you again sometime. :)
Colista -- I am definitely praying for you. I don't have any profound words to say regarding waiting... but I am so so glad that sweet A has a family, even if she hasn't met them yet. HE PLACES THE LONELY IN FAMILIES - and she is placed.. not yet in your home but truly in your heart. Not born to you, perhaps, but most certainly born FOR you and grant... love you guys and will pray that God would bring her home miraculously speedily...
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb... Amen. Love your encouragement, and you're right...She is snug in our hearts.
DeleteHope you all are doing well! I need to get some updated pics of your kiddos from Trish.
Love to you.
Can't wait to see photos of your precious girl! Praying for quick approval!!!
ReplyDeleteSame here! :) Praying for all of our adoptions to go quick, quick, quick... or quicker. ;) Happy to see your news last week!
DeleteWe pray OFTEN! We are anxious for you and our children are ready for their new cousin. I'm glad you can keep your sense of humor and are trying to enjoy life as it is. All in HIS time!
ReplyDeleteLove you!
So thankful for all your prayers. Love you guys too!
DeleteI like your version of adoption progress . . . :o) Hope you're able to reprogram your brain to accommodate your discovery! And thanks for sharing about the photo shoot troubles -- it always makes me feel a little more sane to find out I'm not alone in forgetting things!
